1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Qianye (hubei Province) Education Technology Co., Ltd (“ilib”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use the ilib application (the “App”) and the related website at web.ilib.ai (collectively, the “Service”).

We are the data controller for the personal information described in this Policy. Our registered office is at Room 1105, 11/F, Building T3, Optics Valley Headquarters Center, No. 766 Gaoxin Avenue, East Lake High-tech Development Zone, Wuhan, Hubei Province, P.R. China.

By using the Service you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you use third-party sign-in, your authentication provider identifier (e.g., Apple ID, Google account identifier). We do not store your password — authentication is handled by our identity provider (Supabase).

2.2 User content

The App is local-first. The ebooks you import, your reading positions, annotations, highlights, notes, and bookmarks are stored locally on your device by default. If you enable cloud sync, this content is encrypted in transit and stored on our object-storage backend (Cloudflare R2) under your account.

2.3 Usage data and analytics

With your consent, we collect anonymized telemetry about how the App is used — for example, which features are opened, session duration, and error events. This data is processed by PostHog. You can opt out at any time in Settings → Privacy.

2.4 Payment information

When you purchase a subscription or storage upgrade through our website, your payment is processed by Stripe; we do not see or store your full card number. When you purchase through the iOS App Store or Google Play, your payment is processed by Apple or Google respectively, and we only receive a confirmation of the purchase plus the product identifier.

2.5 Translation queries

If you use the in-app translation feature, the text you select is transmitted to DeepL for translation. DeepL acts as an independent data controller for that processing; we do not retain the queries or translations on our servers.

2.6 Device and technical information

We automatically collect a limited set of technical data each time the App connects to our servers: operating system and version, App version, language preference, and approximate location inferred from IP address (city level only). We do not collect precise GPS location.

2.7 Support communications

If you contact us at admin@readest.com.cn, we retain your message, email address, and any attachments solely to respond to your inquiry.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not share it for their independent advertising or marketing.

6. Data Retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information and synced content within thirty (30) days, except where retention is required by law (for example, tax records under Chinese accounting rules retained for ten years).

Telemetry data is retained in pseudonymous form for up to twenty-four (24) months for product analysis.

7. International Data Transfers

Our service providers (Supabase, Cloudflare, Stripe, Apple, Google, PostHog, DeepL) may process data outside of mainland China, including in the United States and the European Union. By using the Service you consent to such transfers. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. Access to production systems is limited to authorized personnel and logged. Despite our safeguards, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials.

You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority — in mainland China the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), in the EU your national DPA, in California the Attorney General.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Cookies (Web)

On ilib.ai and web.ilib.ai we use a small number of first-party cookies to maintain your session and remember your preferences. We do not use cross-site tracking cookies. The site does not run third-party advertising networks.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the App or by email.
